Bhanu Choudhrie helps in providing investment strategy for C & C Alpha Group, and so, apart from healthcare, hotels and restaurant businesses, he also talks of his love for Real Estate investment, and he refers to it as an exciting venture. Another venture that went well for the Group was aviation. In 2003, they invested in Air Deccan which was a low budget airline consisting of only one plane in India. In the year 2008, this airline was sold off to Kingfisher, and by then, they were flying seven million passengers and would make 200 flights in a day. Bhanu Choudhrie referred to the airline investment as one of the many risky ventures they had taken but also included the dotcom business too. They invested in the website www.ebookers.com which turned out to be very successful, then later sold it off for half a billion pounds.
Bhanu Choudhrie joined the board of Century Bank in the USA because he felt he wanted to go back into financial services. He said that his grandfather ran Punjab National Bank until it was nationalized and taken away in the year 1969. With the current financial problems in America and the entire World, he felt it was the right time to join in the financial sector and try out his luck.
Bhanu maintains that the group would continue investing in the same fields it dealt with and new ones such as charity work. They already have set up an advisory board on education foundation, and it is going to look at how people would get financial support through their studies in London. They would plan on venturing into other countries like Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and many more places that tend to look like there might be opportunities.
