Fifteen years later, he was promoted to the position of the Director of Marketing. In 1992, he became the Executive Director and President of the bank’s pension arm. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi held the position for six years to 1998. The following year, he rose further to the position of the Executive Vice President for Bradesco Seguros, the insurance company of the bank. He made remarkable achievements in his capacity, which led to his appointment as the President of the insurance company five years later.

During his reign, the insurance company recorded tremendous growth in the industry. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi saw insurance as a tool that enhances the social welfare of the state. He had the positivity for growth, which drove him to aim for success. Premiums collections went up 2 percent to stand at 25 percent in the market, making it the largest in Latin America. He also increased the profit contribution to the bank’s overall profitability to 35 percent up from 26 percent.

Appointment to Presidency

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi’s work in the insurance company caught the eyes of the bank’s management who put up his name as the President of the bank. Among the nominees were the head of the investment bank division of Bradesco, Jose Luiz Acar Pedro and Vale President, Roger Agnelli. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Calli emerged the top for his long duration at the bank and his impressive work over the years. He took the seat in March 2009, succeeding Cypriano who left the position because he had reached 65, the maximum age for a top executive at Bradesco.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi took over the Presidency mantle at dark times in the country’s economy. Financial analysts had predicted that the loan growth would decline compared to the years before. Bradesco had just lost the first position ranking to Itau Unibanco at the time of his take over. He did not count the losses but immersed himself fully in his work with the aim of steering the bank forward. He has used his position to take up transactions that have seen it increase the impact in the Brazilian banking sector. Two years ago, he led Bradesco in acquiring HSBC branch in the country for $5.2 billion. The acquisition gave the bank a competitive edge in the private banking sector.

During his tenure at Bradesco Seguros, the insurance arm of Bradesco Bank, he was named several times as the Insurance Personality of the year. He has also been named the Entrepreneur of the Year in Finance by Money.
